All applicants are advised to read and understand the Rules and Regulations governing the practice of Podiatry in Massachusetts. Limited Licensure (Applicants who are entering into a one year residency or preceptorship under a licensed podiatrist)
be of good moral character
must have been accepted into an approved residency or preceptorship program
must have official transcript with date degree conferred
must complete a criminal offender record information request form
Initial Licensure (Applicants who have never been licensed before as a Podiatrist)
be of good moral character
have earned a DPM degree from a board-accredited podiatry college
have passed parts I and II of the exam given by the National Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners (NBPME)
have completed one year's residency/preceptorship under the supervision of an approved doctor
must complete a criminal offender record information request form
Licensure by Reciprocity (Applicants who have been licensed before as a Podiatrist outside of Massachusetts)
be of good moral character
have earned a DPM degree from a board-accredited podiatry college
have passed parts I, II, and III/PMLexis of the exam given by the National Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners (NBPME)
have completed one year's residency/preceptorship under the supervision of an approved doctor
be licensed in at least one other state
ask the state(s) candidate is coming from if the state would accept a Massachusetts candidate as a reciprocal candidate; the Board in question will need to submit this information in a letter to PCS -- this is required for the file to be complete
must complete a criminal offender record information request form
Part III (Applicants that wish to take their Part III Exam during their residency)
be of good moral character
have submitted an offical transcript with a DPM degree and carry the official seal of the school. Transcripts must include your graduation date and the official copy sent directly to PCS.
have submitted a Certified Transcript indicating passing scores for Parts I and II from the National Board of Podiatry Medical Examiners (NBPME). NBPME must send an official copy directly to PCS.
have submitted three letters of recommendation attesting to the applicant's good moral character: one from the Podiatry school administration and two from individuals who have known the applicant at least 10 years. Letters from relatives are not acceptable.
