1. Visit NBCOT online to complete exam registration. Request a Confirmation of Examination Registration and Eligibility to Examine Notice from NBCOT be issued directly to PCS.
2. Complete and submit Licensure Application for Occupational Therapists or Licensure Application for Occupational Therapist Assistants and fee to PCS. Please allow 3 to 4 weeks to process your application once PCS has received all documentation.

Note 2: Applicant may request a temporary license if the exam has not been taken or successfully completed.

Note 3: Temporary license is only valid until failing score is received or until permanent license is received after passing exam.

Note 4: Only three temporary licenses are allowed.
3. NBCOT sends Confirmation of Examination Registration to PCS.
4. PCS reviews application for completeness.
If incomplete, PCS will notify candidate in writing.
If complete, PCS will mail a temporary license letter.
5. Applicant takes the examination.
6. PCS receives information from NBCOT on the 15th and the end of each month regarding applicant's score status.

If examinee passes, PCS mails license letter to approved applicant.
If examinee did not pass, PCS will send reinstatement information; click here for information.
7. PCS sends license information to MA Board for passing examinees.
8. MA Board posts license number on website within 1 week when scores are mailed.
9. MA Board mails wallet-sized license to candidate within 6 weeks after scores are mailed.
